Shelly the safety turtle is reminding drivers to slow down. The Safe Streets Monitoring Program uses Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras to encourage people to drive the posted speed limit. Five cameras have been installed – one in each ward – in Community Safety Zones. The cameras will become operational beginning April 10.

Southlake Health is pleased to report that numerous submissions were received in response to our proposal call for land suitable for building a large community hospital.

York Region staff will be at the Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall reception centre to speak to residents about supports and services on the following dates and times:

The Pefferlaw Lion’s Hall Reception Centre is moving to 24-hour operations starting this evening (April 2) with assistance from the Red Cross for anyone requiring accommodation. Showers are available at the Georgina Leisure Pool and MURC for those who require them.

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that areas of the watershed are forecast to receive 20 – 40mm of precipitation starting Wednesday afternoon and through Thursday.  Higher amounts of rainfall may occur in localized areas as a result of thunderstorm activity.
